Nola Mae Roberts was born and raised in Lake Charles, LA, attended LaGrange School - graduated in 1943, attended McNeese State College. Operated McFillen Air Park on E. Gauthier Road, with her husband Doug McFillen until his death in 1966a native of Lake Charles, Louisiana. She operated an airport for 35 years before changing careers to writing. She has written many historical books on Southwest Louisiana.
