A collection of photgraphs and research that reflect the influence of the Acadians, Michigan Lumber Barons, Midwesterners, and Viking Sea Captains, in these home designs. Much of Louisiana's heritage is wrapped up in these historic homes. We hope this book reveals each distinct personality that makes up Louisiana's heritage.
Nola Mae Ross, a native and life long resident of Lake Charles, has been writing books about Louisiana's history for many years. This is her 11th book and the second volume of old homes. Other books include topics such as Hurricane Audrey, Jean Lafitte, WWII Veterans, and the Pioneers of Southwest Louisiana.
This book would not be possible without the great work of Harold Mangum, who photographs captured the uniqueness of each home. A Mississppi native, Mangum has lived in Lake Charles for more than 45 years. His love of photography and old homes is strongly revealed in this project.
