
Enrique Alférez, Sculptor
Born in Zacatecas, Mexico, Enrique Alférez left a lasting imprint on the landscape of New Orleans through his figurative sculptures, monuments, fountains, and other works of public art. With unprecedented access to Alférez's personal and family holdings, author Katie Bowler Young has crafted an intimate portrait of this preeminent artist. Katie Bowler Young is the author of Through the Water with Ease and State Street. Her poetry and prose have appeared in journals including the Southern Review, the Midwest Quarterly, and Louisiana Literature. Young is director of global relations at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, responsible for international programs and partnerships. She has been an adjunct faculty member in poetry in the creative writing program at Warren Wilson College.
