This book reprints the history and pictures of the city of Sulphur as published October 26, 1980 in a 50th Anniversary edition of the Sulphur newspaper, THE SOUTHWEST BUILDER. We express our deep appreciation to the many individuals, public officials, organizations and church, who answering to our call for historical material, came forward with the wealth of pictures and stories filling this volume. 

Retired Major General Erbon Wise remembers his days in World War II like they were yesterday. He was stationed in England with the same B-17 unit as the Memphis Belle and was part of the Normandy Invasion.
General Wise has written 24 books. Some on his military years and this one's called "Some Characters I've Met." Wise retired from the newspaper business in 1998.
