In this book, women tell their personal stories of joining the military, when they were not legally of age. Many of these stories have common threads such as overcoming diversity, the overwhelming urge to contribute, and the drive to make something of themselves. These women tell of motivating factors such as being from families of divorce, or even homelessness, while others took the leap because of a strong sense of patriotism.
