After finding a boy in a basket, he carries him to safety to his home, hires a widow to help him take care of the baby, and assumes life will go on as before. He couldn’t be more wrong.

Born in Ravenna, Ohio, later moving to South Louisiana at the age of 6, Sandra Leedom Gaspard grew up with the swamps, marshes, and bayous as her playground. At the age of 27, Sandra and her husband moved to the piney woods of Central Louisiana, where she and her husband raised their three children. Sandra credits her family, and Louisiana’s rich history, as her joy and inspiration to writing her books.
