In 1955, America lost one of its unsung musical prodigies, when 26 year old Cajun accordionist Iry Lejeune succumbed to injuries sustained after an automobile accident along a darkened stretch of Louisiana Highway 90. Like other influential musicians who died tragically young, the myth surrounding Iry's life and career looms large, in part because substantial details regarding his life are locked away in the memories of his friends and colleagues.
