Ching Veillon
Creole Music Man: Bois Sec Ardoin
How does a young black boy of Creole heritage and a talent for music face the 20th century? Bois Sec Ardoin's meager beginnings, with nothing more than a love for music, took him from the cotton fields of Louisiana to Carnegie Hall to the music halls of Europe entertaining people and sharing his beloved music. This is his story.
Ching Veillon was born and reared in Southwestern Louisiana prairie country surrounded by the Cajun dialects of French speakers, the twang of Americans (non French-speakers), and the patois of black Creole people. She grew up in Eunice, Louisiana where the rich mixture of music from each culture danced over the prairie grasses throughout the years and still melds with life today. After spending 35 years in education and attaining the highest pinnacle of her career, being honored as National Distinguished Principal, she is now retired and taking pleasure in traveling throughout the world, writing, and enjoying life.
