Historic East Carroll Parish, Louisiana is located along the Mississippi River in central Louisiana. A descendant of the Durham, Payne; McIlwain and Weaver families of Louisiana, Georgia Pinkston was born in historic Mt. Lebanon, Louisiana, where her father was a physician.  five members of the family were teachers, and after degrees from Louisiana Tech and L.S.U., she taught high school English and history, later becoming a parish school administrator.

Past presidencies she has held include local and state teachers groups, the DAR, American Legion Auxiliary, Eastern Star and AARP.  She is also a member of Delta Zeta, Kappa Kappa Iota and Kappa Delta Pi fraternities.

Her church activities have been as a teacher, director, librarian, choir member, and teacher in the national assembly at Ridgecrest, North Carolina.

She is married to Jesse Orville Pinkston, Jr., a native of East Carroll, and their two children are Ann Durham Pinkston Russell and Edwin Steward Pinkston.  They have five grandchildren.

Other publications have been in professional journals and college anthologies, and include educational articles, essays and poetry.
